Janaki Mandir
The most beautiful and impressive building is the Janaki
Mandir, a temple to Sita, built of bright white marble. When you see it the
first time, it seems unrealistic, like a beautiful fata morgana or movie-scene.
This artistic marble temple popularly known as the Naulakha Mandir (meaning nine
lakhs) dedicated to the divine couple. The cost for the construction of the
temple was about the same amount of money: Rupees 9 Lakhs (900,000) and hence
the name. Queen Vrisha Bhanu - of the Indian state of Tikamgarhm built the
temple in 1910.
Religious festivals, pilgrimages, and other festivities are held here on Bhivaha
Panchami and Ram Nawami when thousands of local as well as Indian pilgrims
gather for worship.
